Evacuation Alert

Dear Central Linn School District Families and Community,

Earlier today, district staff received a report of a threat to the Central Linn School District, specifically mentioning a bomb or bombs in our schools. We initiated an immediate response which included contacting law enforcement.

To ensure the safety of all students and staff while the threat was being investigated to determine credibility, we enacted our emergency protocol of evacuating our schools and transporting students and staff off-site to a reunification area away from district buildings. Parents were notified via ParentSquare Alert as well as on social media.

We received word from law enforcement that all school buildings are safe and the threat has been determined non-credible. We were informed by law enforcement that this was not an isolated incident, as several districts in Oregon received a similar threat.

When incidents like this occur, it can be very unsettling for students. Our school counselors and staff are prepared to support our students upon their return to school tomorrow. Students and their safety are at the center of our work and threats to the school district are intended to disrupt our ability to educate the children of Central Linn.  There is no place for this threat of harm in our schools.  If your student needs support please reach out to our office staff and we will ensure that your child may schedule time to talk with one of our counselors.

I am grateful to our local first responders, community partners, the transportation department, and school staff who helped secure the safety of our students and staff.  We want to specifically thank Pastor Jeff Carter with Central Valley Church for his hospitality and support!

Sincerely,

Candace Pelt, Ed.D.

Central Linn School District
