FLEX is ideal for families who value independence but appreciate having a partner in their child’s education. You choose how learning happens — the district simply helps make it possible.

The Simplicity of the FLEX Program

The Central Linn FLEX Program was designed to make learning at home simple, supported, and stress-free. Families set the daily schedule and learning environment that work best for them, while the district provides access to quality materials and an experienced advisor to guide the process.

All that’s required each week is:

  • One check-in with the advisor (a quick email, message, or call).
  • One piece of evidence of learning in each core subject (a photo of a project, a screenshot from an online course, or a short writing sample).

That’s it. No complicated reporting, no long forms, and no daily online logins.

At the start of the program, families meet with the advisor to create a personalized learning plan that fits each student’s goals and interests. Every quarter, you’ll have a short review meeting to celebrate progress, look at what’s working, and adjust if needed.

Why Families Love FLEX

FLEX offers the freedom of homeschooling with the benefits of district support — giving families the best of both worlds.

Here are just a few advantages:

  • District pays for approved curriculum and materials – families can focus on learning, not shopping or budgeting.
  • Keep doing what already works – continue your home learning routines, co-ops, or programs and simply document progress once a week.
  • Access to district opportunities – participate in electives, sports, field trips, dual enrollment, and other Central Linn programs.
  • Advisor support – a licensed educator helps you map out your plan and is available when you need guidance or resources.
  • Flexible pace and environment – learn at home, outdoors, or in the community — wherever learning happens naturally.
  • Path to a diploma – students can earn credits and graduate through Central Linn SD while learning their own way.
