Central Linn Elementary School provides a supportive and engaging learning environment for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Our academic program is designed to build strong foundational skills, encourage curiosity, and prepare every student for continued success in junior high, high school, and beyond.
Instruction is aligned with Oregon’s academic standards and is designed to help students develop the knowledge and skills expected at each grade level. Teachers use curriculum materials, classroom activities, assessments, and hands-on learning experiences to support student growth and monitor progress throughout the year.
Students receive instruction in:
- English language arts, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, and research
- Mathematics, including number sense, computation, problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, measurement, geometry, and data
- Science, with opportunities to investigate, ask questions, analyze evidence, and understand the natural and physical world
- Social science, including history, geography, civics, economics, and the study of communities and cultures
- Health and physical education
- The arts and other enrichment opportunities
- Digital literacy and the responsible use of technology
In the primary grades, students focus on developing essential literacy, mathematics, communication, and classroom-learning skills. As students move through the intermediate grades, they apply those foundational skills to increasingly complex texts, writing assignments, mathematical concepts, scientific investigations, and real-world problems. Sixth-grade instruction also helps students develop the independence, organization, and academic habits needed for a successful transition to junior high school.
Teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to meet students at their current level of learning. Whole-group instruction, small-group learning, individual practice, collaborative activities, and targeted support may be used throughout the school day. Student progress is monitored through classroom work, teacher observation, curriculum-based assessments, and Oregon’s statewide assessment system when applicable.
Central Linn Elementary recognizes that children learn at different rates and in different ways. Students may receive additional support or enrichment based on their individual strengths and needs. Teachers, specialists, support staff, and families work together to help students make meaningful academic progress while developing confidence, responsibility, perseverance, and a positive sense of belonging.
Families are important partners in every child’s education. Regular communication between school and home helps families understand grade-level expectations, celebrate student growth, and address concerns early. Our goal is for every Central Linn Elementary student to leave sixth grade with a strong academic foundation, a love of learning, and the skills needed to take the next step in their education.
