Teaching & Learning
CLHS Academics, Curriculum & Course Catalog CLICK HERE
Teaching and learning at CLHS help students develop strong academic knowledge while learning to think critically, communicate effectively, solve problems, and apply their learning beyond the classroom. Students engage in standards-aligned coursework that includes core academic subjects, electives, the arts, career and technical education, advanced learning opportunities, and college-credit options.
Instruction is designed to provide both challenge and support. Teachers use direct instruction, discussion, collaboration, projects, labs, applied learning, technology, and independent practice as appropriate to the course. Students receive feedback and opportunities to improve, while intervention, enrichment, accommodations, and academic supports help ensure that every student can make meaningful progress toward graduation and future goals.

Student Rights & Responsibilities
District Policies Handbook For Students And Parents CLICK HERE
CLHS students have the right to a safe and inclusive education, fair and consistent treatment, access to instruction and school activities, freedom from unlawful discrimination and harassment, appropriate privacy, and an opportunity to be heard when decisions affect them. Students also have the right to understand school rules, receive support when they are struggling, express ideas appropriately, and receive legally required accommodations and services.
With increasing independence comes increasing responsibility. Students are expected to attend and participate, complete their own work honestly, respect the rights and property of others, follow safety and technology expectations, communicate appropriately, and avoid conduct that interferes with learning. Students are encouraged to advocate for themselves, ask questions, report concerns, and participate constructively in resolving problems.
Counseling
Rod Baney is the Counselor for CLHS.
Counseling and mental health services at CLHS provide a confidential, supportive place for students to discuss personal, social, emotional, or behavioral concerns. Students may seek help with stress, anxiety, depression, grief, peer or family conflict, identity concerns, bullying, substance-use concerns, relationship safety, major life changes, or other issues affecting their well-being and ability to engage in school.
Support may include brief individual counseling, skill-building groups, crisis assessment, safety planning, family collaboration, and connection to community-based mental health or social services. These services are separate from academic advising, course forecasting, graduation planning, college preparation, and career planning.
