Title III: ELL Support for Multilingual and Immigrant Students
Title III supports the development of academic English among students who are identified as English Learners (ELs) and assists newly arrived immigrant students. Services are designed to promote proficiency in English while also affirming students’ linguistic and cultural heritage.
Title III-Funded Services Include:
- English Language Development (ELD) programming and materials
- Access to interpreters and translators for family engagement
- Teacher professional development on linguistically responsive instruction
- Cultural celebrations and multilingual learning experiences
- Summer enrichment or bridge programs for ELs
- Monitoring of student growth in both English language proficiency and content mastery
Parent Rights and Supports:
- Parents/guardians must be notified within 30 days of EL identification and placement
- All materials are provided in the family’s preferred language
- Families have the right to decline services, request alternate placements, and participate in ELAC (English Learner Advisory Committee) if established
Immigrant Student Supports:
- Targeted assistance for immigrant students new to U.S. schools within the past 3 years
- Academic placement guidance and transcript translation
- Counseling and orientation for school transition
