Supporting Students Through Life’s Biggest Changes

Becoming a parent—or preparing to become one—can bring both excitement and uncertainty. At Central Linn School District, we believe that pregnancy or parenting should not prevent a student from continuing their education or pursuing their goals.

Our district is committed to providing a supportive learning environment where pregnant and parenting students have the opportunity to remain engaged in school, make academic progress, and prepare for a successful future for themselves and their children.

Every student’s circumstances are unique. We work with students and families to identify available options, explain their educational rights, and connect them with school and community resources that may help them continue their education.

Pregnant and parenting students have the right to continue their education and participate in school programs and activities without discrimination.

Central Linn School District is committed to providing equal access to educational opportunities in accordance with state and federal law. Students will not be excluded from classes, extracurricular activities, career and technical education programs, or other school opportunities because they are pregnant or parenting.

When appropriate, reasonable accommodations may be available to help students continue their education while addressing pregnancy-related needs.

Our staff works with students and families to identify supports that promote continued educational success.

Assistance may include:

  • Individual educational planning
  • Attendance support during pregnancy or recovery
  • Coordination with teachers regarding temporary academic needs
  • Information about available educational options
  • Referrals to school and community resources
  • Assistance returning to school following childbirth
  • Connections to health and family support services
  • Problem-solving to reduce barriers to school participation

Our goal is to help students remain connected to their education while planning for the future.

Every student’s educational path is different. When pregnancy or parenting creates challenges to attending school or completing coursework, we encourage students to meet with school staff as early as possible.

Together, we can discuss options for staying on track toward graduation, developing a plan that supports both educational goals and personal circumstances, and identifying available resources that may help throughout the school year.

For assistance with course planning, graduation requirements, credit progress, or educational options, please visit our Academic Advising page or contact your student’s school.

Strong partnerships between students, families, schools, and community agencies create the best opportunities for success.

With the student’s permission and when appropriate, school staff may collaborate with parents or guardians, healthcare providers, and community organizations to help coordinate available supports while respecting student privacy and confidentiality.

School staff can help connect students and families with appropriate local resources. Many organizations provide services that support young parents and families. Depending on a student’s needs, resources may include:

  • Prenatal and postpartum healthcare
  • Parenting education
  • Child development information
  • Childcare resources
  • Nutrition assistance programs
  • Family support services
  • Mental health services
  • Housing and community assistance programs

Every student’s journey is different, and unexpected life changes do not define a person’s future.

Central Linn School District believes every student deserves the opportunity to complete their education, pursue their goals, and build a strong future. We are committed to treating every student with dignity, respect, and compassion while providing support that helps them continue moving forward.

If you have questions or would like to discuss available resources, we encourage you to contact your school. We are here to help.
